Home Office scrap plans to abolish personal licenses

personal licenceThe Home Office have announced that it will not continue with plans to abolish personal alcohol licences in England and Wales. The proposal, originally put forward as part of the Government’s deregulation agenda, came up against strong opposition from the police and members of the industry, including the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS).

The response from ACS highlighted that the proposed changes would undermine the licensing objectives and create further burdens for businesses. ACS also met with the Crime Prevention Minister and Home Official officials to raise concerns.
