Survey finds smartphone campaigns by grocery retailers trusted the most by consumers

According to a recent survey conducted by retail and shopper marketing agency Savvy Marketing, smartphone campaigns by grocery retailers are the most trusted by consumers. The research conducted, investigated the emerging digital shopper marketing landscape and the growing shopper appetite for digital marketing initiatives.5.290x141_SmartphoneCampaigns

Alastair Lockhart, insight director at Savvy Marketing commented: “Smartphones and tablets have become a ubiquitous part of people’s lives. As these devices have become more powerful, shoppers are increasingly looking to them to carry out a much wider range of tasks.”

The research looked at a number of digital shopper marketing initiatives, and how attractive they were to the consumer. The most attractive digital marketing initiative to all UK shoppers (including those that didn’t own a smartphone) was the idea of receiving targeted coupons to a smartphone – 65%. In second place was the idea of receiving a targeted coupon directly to a smartphone whilst in-store (64%) and in third place was using a smartphone to help locate something in-store (59%).

Other key findings from the research include:

  • Smartphone ownership is reaching critical mass (71% of all UK shoppers now own a smartphone)
  • Tablet ownership has grown at a rapid pace, with 59% of UK households owning at least one tablet
